Dear Italian-American Friends,
My name is Father Giordano Belanich and in my Parish- Church of Saint John in Guttenberg, New Jersey I am known as “Father Gio.” I am also the founder of Croatian Relief Services, a 501(c)3 humanitarian aid organization legally established in the basement of the St. John Rectory in June 1992. Originally, our goal was to provide emergency humanitarian aid to the victims of war on the territory of the former Yugoslavia. When violence and destruction settled in that region, we expanded our mission to provide humanitarian relief to the poorest of the poor in various parts of the world.
In 2010, after the catastrophic earthquake hit Haiti, we opened a Cardinal Stepinac Orphanage in Port-au-Prince, which presently houses 51 orphaned children, 80 abandoned and homeless elderly and more than 50 local families we provide for. In the past, we have also helped the earthquake victims in Central and South America as well as in Asia.
Serving abandoned children of Haiti
At the present time we cannot look the other way with the catastrophic earthquake in Italy. We wish to open our hearts to the victims and show them our Christian love and solidarity. Every dollar received will be given to those who lost all they had in Italy. All donations we entirely use for humanitarian efforts, and we have done a lot of great things with help and support of people like yourself.
The only thing we wish to ask you is to write a tax deductible check to Croatian Relief Services, Inc. and place on the memo of your check (For Italian Earthquake). The donations will be distributed through the local Catholic Church in the area affected by the earthquake. You may give your donation in memory of your loved ones by sending us their names. Your loved deceased ones will be remembered in our Novena Masses from November 2 to November 10, 2016. If you have any further questions you can call us at 201-449-1573. Leave a short message and your phone number and we will call you as soon as possible.
May God bless you for opening your heart to the earthquake victims in Central Italy. May God’s peace be in your heart today and each day of your life. Please pray for us so that we may never spoil the work of God to and our service to the poorest of the poor. I will pray for you and all your needs.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Rev. Giordano M. Belanich
